Big initiative of Central Government, consumers without set top box will be able to watch 450 channels for free

New Delhi. The Central Government has launched three important initiatives aimed at bringing about a paradigm shift in the digital technology and broadcasting sector. Under these initiatives, now all television sets manufactured in the country will come with inbuilt tuner, so that consumers will not need to install a separate set top box and they will be able to watch more than 400 TV channels for free. Along with this, major steps have also been taken towards training content creators through Artificial Intelligence (AI) and providing digital platforms.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav launched MyWebs Digital Platform, TV Tuner and Advanced EPG and National AI Skilling Initiative in a program organized at Rail Bhawan. During this, he said that these initiatives take forward the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which emphasis has been laid on making technology accessible to the common people and taking high quality content to every home.

Vaishnav told that now a small tuner card is being installed in the new TV sets, through which hundreds of channels can be watched without a set top box. This will reduce additional expenses of consumers and promote digital broadcasting. Another important initiative of the government is the MyWebs digital platform, which will allow content creators to create, upload and share their content. India’s orange economy is expected to be strengthened through this platform.

Under the third initiative, National AI Skilling Initiative, 15 thousand labs will be established across the country. Through these labs, youth, students and industry people will be given training in AI based audio-visual content creation. Platforms like Google and YouTube are also cooperating in this initiative.

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju said that these three initiatives are in line with the government’s goals of Digital India and Self-reliant India. He told that now television sets will come with inbuilt free dish system, although it will be necessary to install a dish for this.

The government believes that these initiatives will promote digital content creation, provide new opportunities to the youth and provide better and cheaper entertainment to the common consumers.
