1 big scheme approved in UP, 58 districts got good news
Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government has approved a new initiative for the development of urban bodies of the district headquarters of the state. ‘Navyug Palika Yojana’ was given the green signal in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Under this scheme, Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats located in 58 district headquarters will be equipped with modern facilities.

For the first time, the State Government has given priority to urban bodies outside the Municipal Corporations, especially the Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats of the district headquarters. This scheme includes 55 Municipal Councils, 3 Nagar Panchayats and Dadri Municipal Council of Gautam Buddha Nagar.
investment and financing
A total investment of Rs 2916 crore will be made on Navayug Palika Yojana. Approximately Rs 583.20 crore will be spent each year under the scheme. This scheme is completely funded by the state government and there will be no involvement of the central government.
Smart City and Digital Governance
Through this scheme, digital governance, e-services and technological solutions will be promoted on the lines of smart cities in municipalities. This will make citizen services faster, transparent and effective.
Improving infrastructure and living standards
The main objective of the scheme is to strengthen the infrastructure in cities, provide clean and well-organized environment and improve the standard of living of the citizens. Extensive development of roads, drainage, drinking water, lighting and other civic amenities will be done.
Classification of bodies on the basis of population
The bodies have been divided into two categories based on their population – bodies with a population of more than 1.5 lakh and less than 1.5 lakh. With this, development works can be given priority according to their needs. Navayug Palika Yojana will not only provide modern facilities to the citizens of the district headquarters, but will also give impetus to balanced and systematic urban development in the state.
