Big ruckus before IPL! Akshar Patel did not like this rule of BCCI, Rohit Sharma was also angry!
IPL Impact Player Role: Now only a few days are left for IPL 2026 to start. Meanwhile, there has been an uproar regarding the ‘Impact Player’ rule. Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel has not liked this rule at all.
Akshar Patel expressed his displeasure
Akshar Patel said that ‘personally he is not at all in favor of the ‘Impact Player’ rule in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This rule reduces the role of all-rounders. Akshar said during the press conference that ‘To be honest, I do not like this rule. I am an all-rounder. Earlier you used to choose an all-rounder for both batting and bowling. Due to this rule, the team management can choose a particular batsman or bowler. Thinking that why do we need an all-rounder? That’s why I don’t like this rule.
Akshar further said, ‘You have been looking at me the same way for so many years. Whatever the team needs, I do. That is why I have got the tag of ‘Crisis-Man’. I play my role as per the need of the team. Be it a ‘finisher’ or a ‘middle-order batsman’. We keep discussing among ourselves. If a player is scoring four runs in two balls or scoring twelve runs in two balls, or the opener scores 80 runs. All these things are very important for the team.

‘It will affect your game too’
He said, ‘I come on the field again and again with this thought, whatever needs to be done, I will play the same role. Because if you don’t get what you want, you will be disappointed. Which will affect your game also. That’s why I put the needs of the team above. When you are ready for this, you give your 100 percent.
