PM Modi’s address in Lok Sabha on Middle East war, said – Security of Indians is our priority, this war has created unexpected challenges for India.

Parliament Budget Session 2026 Live: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving a statement in the Lok Sabha on Monday in the second half of the budget session of the Parliament regarding the situation in West Asia. PM Modi said that India is one of the countries most affected by war in West Asia. All our missions are busy helping the affected Indians.

PM Modi said that he has stood up to express his views on the ongoing conflict in West Asia and the challenges faced by India due to it. This crisis has been going on for more than three weeks now. The whole world is urging all parties to resolve this crisis as soon as possible. This war has also created unexpected challenges for India. PM Modi said that this message should also go to the world from the Parliament of India that the crisis should be resolved soon. He informed the House about the Indians who returned home amid the war and said that the safety of Indians is our top priority. Our missions are continuously helping Indians in the affected countries.

PM Modi said that India has diversified its crude oil imports in the last 11 years. Earlier energy was imported from 27 countries, today it is being imported from 41 countries. Our refining capacity has also increased. We have a reserve of 53 lakh metric tons of crude oil. Our target is 65 lakh metric tonnes. It is our endeavor that ships carrying all the essential goods reach India safely. We are communicating with every side. Due to such efforts, many of our ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz have also come to India.

PM Modi said that in the last 10-11 years, a lot of work has been done on the production and blending of ethanol. 20 percent ethanol is being blended in petrol. This is also saving money. We have expanded the metro network. We put a lot of emphasis on electric mobility. The extent to which work is being done on alternative fuels today, India’s future will be more secure. Energy is the backbone of the economy today. West Asia is the source of global energy needs. The economy around the world is being affected by the current crisis. The government is also working with a strategy for its short term, mid term and long term impact.

We are discussing with every stakeholders. Wherever needed, support is being provided. An inter-ministerial group has been formed, which meets every day. With joint efforts we will be able to face the situation better. India has enough food grains. Sowing of Kharif season can be done properly. The government has made adequate arrangements for food. Earlier also we had not allowed the burden of crisis to fall on the farmers. In the world market, a bag of urea had reached Rs 3,000, but the same bag was given to Indian farmers at a price of less than Rs 300.

Dependence on diesel has reduced: PM Modi

PM Modi said in Lok Sabha that more than 22 lakh solar pumps have been given to farmers. This has also reduced their dependence on diesel. The government will continue to help the farmers. Summer season is about to start. The demand for electricity will increase in the coming times. From power generation to supply, all systems are being monitored. Renewable energy has also helped. The country has taken big steps. Half comes from renewable sources. In the last 11 years, the country has increased its solar power capacity from three gigawatts to beyond 100 gigawatts. Bio gas plants have also started functioning under Govardhan Scheme. All these efforts are coming in handy today. The government has also encouraged nuclear energy. 1500 new power capacity will be added in the next five years.

Blockage in Hormuz Strait, attacks on commercial ships unacceptable: PM Modi

PM Modi said that from the beginning we have expressed deep concern about this conflict. Everyone has been urged to reduce tension and end conflict. Have opposed the attack on energy infra. Blockade on the Strait of Hormuz is unacceptable. Attacks on commercial vessels are unacceptable. India has made efforts through diplomacy for safe movement. The only solution to this problem is dialogue and diplomacy. Our every effort is to end the conflict.
