Columbia Plane Crash: Air Force plane crashes after takeoff in Colombia, 110 people were on board

A major military accident occurred in Colombia on Monday, when an Air Force plane crashed. There were more than 100 people on board this plane, due to which there is a possibility of huge loss of life. According to initial information, a large number of soldiers may be affected in the accident. However, the dead and injured have not been officially confirmed yet.

Colombia’s Defense Ministry confirmed the incident and said that a Hercules C-130 aircraft manufactured by Lockheed Martin crashed in the southern region of the country. According to local media reports, there were about 110 soldiers on board the plane, who were going on a military mission. After the accident, relief and rescue work has been intensified in the entire area.

Defense Minister Pedro Sanchez issued a statement expressing deep sorrow. He said that this incident happened when the Air Force plane was in flight. The minister said that the reasons for the accident and the exact number of casualties have not been known yet. He said, “It is with great sadness that we share the information that a Hercules aircraft of our Air Force has crashed during takeoff.”

Where did the accident happen?

This accident happened in the Puerto Leguizamo area located near the Peruvian border in the southern Amazon region. The plane was carrying soldiers from one place to another when this accident occurred during the flight. Due to the accident site being a remote and densely forested area, there are challenges in relief work.

Immediately after the incident, military and emergency teams reached the spot and rescue operations were started. The government has assured all possible assistance to the affected soldiers and their families. Besides, a detailed investigation has also been started to find out the cause of the accident. Officials say that the real cause of the accident will be revealed only after the investigation is completed.
