Prayagraj Cold Storage: A major accident took place in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh at around 1.30 pm on Monday afternoon. After a loud explosion, a cold storage building suddenly collapsed, due to which many workers working there were buried under the debris.

There is news of death of four laborers in the incident. Pilat Chaudhary, Mashinder, Jyotish and Jagdish are said to be among the dead. Of these, Jagdish was a resident of Prayagraj, while the other three were residents of Bihar. However, the administration has not yet officially confirmed the deaths.

Debris removed with JCB machines

The rescue operation is continuing rapidly. The debris is being removed from the spot with the help of 7 JCB machines. So far 17 people have been evacuated safely. SDRF and NDRF teams are also engaged in relief and rescue operations.

Trying to protect yourself by tying a cloth over your mouth

According to eyewitnesses, after the accident, a strong smell of ammonia gas spread in the area, which was felt for about a kilometer. Due to this, people nearby are trying to protect themselves by tying cloth over their mouths. There is a lot of anger among the local people after the incident and the police had to face opposition.

27 year old cold storage building collapsed

This accident happened in ‘Adarsh ​​Cold Storage’ located in Phaphamau area, which is said to be owned by SP leader and former minister Ansar Ahmed. A building of this 27-year-old cold storage, in which more than 100 people worked, collapsed.

CM Yogi expressed grief

The police have detained some people from the family of the manager and owner of the cold storage in the case. Expressing grief over the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand to the injured.
