When India’s ‘Black Tiger’ entered the Pak Army, no one had a clue for 10 years, know the story of the real warrior –
Ravindra Kaushik Black Tiger: These days the trend of films based on espionage and patriotism is again in discussion in Bollywood. In this series, the film ‘Dhurandhar’ has created tremendous enthusiasm among the audience. The film’s story of an intelligence mission and an agent who infiltrated into the enemy country has reminded people of the real hero—Ravindra Kaushik, popularly known as ‘Black Tiger’.
Ravindra Kaushik’s story is no less than a film script. Born in Rajasthan, Kaushik was adept in acting since childhood. This talent of his took him to India’s intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). In the 1970s, he was selected for a mission that gives goosebumps—to spy inside Pakistan.
Kaushik, who reached Pakistan with a new identity, completely changed himself there. He studied, obtained a law degree and then joined the Pakistan Army and became a Major. This was no ordinary achievement, but is considered one of the biggest successes in the history of Indian espionage.
For about 10 years, he sent many confidential and important information related to Pakistan to India. His information played an important role in strengthening India’s security. Due to this courage and contribution, he was given the title of ‘Black Tiger’.
However, every story also has a painful twist. In 1983, due to a mistake, his identity was revealed. He was arrested in Pakistan and had to suffer inhuman torture in jail for years. Ultimately he died in jail in 2001.
The film ‘Dhurandhar’ may be a cinematic story, but it reminds us of the real heroes who risked their lives for the country without any recognition. Ravindra Kaushik’s story even today awakens the feeling of patriotism in the heart of every Indian and tells who is the real ‘Dhurandhar’.
