Chennai, 23 March. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has finalized the seat sharing for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Under this, out of total 234 seats, AIDAMK will contest on 178 seats and BJP on 27 seats. According to sources, seats have also been allotted to other alliance partners. Of these, PMK has got 18 seats and AMMK has got 11 seats.

Allocated seats will be announced soon – Palaniswami

AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) said talks within the alliance went smoothly and confirmed that the number of seats has been officially finalised. He said discussions with other parties were still on and the seats allotted to them would be announced soon.

Expressing confidence in the prospects of the alliance, EPS termed NDA as a ‘winning alliance’. He claimed that it would win all the seats, and the AIMDMK would form the government.

He also said that the AIMDMK has formed an alliance with the BJP and alleged that ‘defamatory statements’ are spread when he visits Delhi. EPS claimed that Chief Minister MK Stalin is afraid of his visits to the national capital.

On alliance dynamics, EPS said it is common for allies to meet each other, and raised questions as to why Kanimozhi had gone to Delhi to meet Rahul Gandhi. Responding to questions on the possibility of a coalition government, EPS said there was no doubt that the AIMDMK would form the government on its own.
