Gorakhpur: ‘Game’ of conversion exposed; 4 arrested including woman, there was a conspiracy to convert religion by tricking

Gorakhpur: Big news is coming out from Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh, where the police has busted a gang trying to carry out religious conversion. On Sunday night, police conducted a surgical strike against this gang operating in Gulriha police station area and arrested a woman and three men. This action, taken as part of the crime control campaign being run on the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), has created a stir in the entire area.

There was an attempt to mislead and convert religion

The police team under the leadership of Police Station Head Gulriha had received information that some people in the area were trying to convert innocent villagers by misleading and luring them. Considering the sensitivity of the matter, the police took immediate action and laid siege and arrested the four accused red-handed. The arrested accused have been identified as Amit Singh (Kushinagar/Gorakhnath), Vicky Kumar (Sarhari), Kanhaiya Yadav (PPganj) and Rita Devi (Kushinagar/Gorakhnath).

Case registered under UP Prohibition of Religious Conversion Act

Taking a tough stand in this matter, the police have registered a case under serious sections of the ‘Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act’. CO Gorakhnath Ravi Singh has made it clear that no laxity will be maintained in such sensitive matters. He said that the police is now trying to find out whether the arrested accused are part of any big organized network and from where they were getting funding.

Search for organized network and other comrades continues

During initial interrogation, the police have found indications of involvement of some more people, who are said to be absconding at present. Police teams are raiding possible locations in search of them. The police is also investigating how many innocent people these people have trapped in their net so far. Officials have appealed to the general public that if they notice any suspicious or misleading activity around them, they should immediately inform the police.

Big conspiracy averted due to promptness of Gulriha police

Local people say that the accused were active in the area for some time and were holding suspicious meetings. The timely action taken by Gulriha Police has averted a major social unrest. At present, preparations are being made to send all the accused to jail and some more big revelations are expected in the case soon.
