Crisis on PSL 2026, entire schedule changed 3 days before the tournament, league will be limited to only 2 venues without fans
PSL 2026 Revised Schedule: The 11th season of Pakistan Super League 2026 is scheduled to start from March 26, but just three days before the start, a major change has been made in the schedule of the tournament. Pakistan Cricket Board has taken many important decisions by releasing the new schedule, which has surprised the fans. This time the league will be organized with limited resources.
All matches will be held without spectators
According to the new schedule, all the matches of PSL 2026 will be played without spectators. This means that there will be no presence of fans in the stadium, due to which the atmosphere of the tournament will look quite different. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the current circumstances in the country, so that security and resources can be managed better.
Tournament limited to only two cities
PCB has also made a big cut in the number of host cities this time. Where earlier the matches were to be held in 6 cities, now they have been reduced to just 2 cities β Lahore and Karachi. Under the new schedule, a total of 44 matches will be played in 39 days, in which both the cities will host 22 matches each. The purpose of this change is to reduce travel and save resources.

Schedule of knockout matches decided
However, no changes have been made in the opening match of the tournament. The opening match will be played between Hyderabad Kingsmen and Lahore Qalandars. Talking about the knockout stage, Eliminator 1, Eliminator 2 and the final matches will be held in Lahore, while the qualifiers will be played in Karachi. In this way the entire structure of the tournament has been concentrated in two cities.
PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi’s statement
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has clarified the reason behind this decision. He said, “There were continuous discussions going on with the Prime Minister and security agencies for the last few days regarding the Pakistan Super League. Due to the ongoing fuel crisis in the country, it has become difficult for people to travel, so the schedule has been changed to reduce the movement.”

He further explained that it was not possible to postpone the PSL, as it is a big international tournament in which many foreign players participate. If it was postponed further, it could have been very difficult to find the right time for it in future. Overall, PSL 2026 is going to be held this time with a changed format and new challenges, which can make it different and interesting than before.
