Big accident in Prayagraj: Cold storage collapsed due to explosion, 20 people feared buried, many laborers died

Prayagraj. A major accident took place in Prayagraj at around 2.30 pm on Monday afternoon, when a cold storage building suddenly collapsed in Phaphamau area. It is feared that about 20 people are buried under the debris in the accident. According to media reports, till now the bodies of 9 people have been pulled out from the debris. There was a commotion on the spot after the incident. Debris is being removed with the help of 5 JCB machines for relief and rescue work. At the same time, teams of SDRF and NDRF have also been called, which are rapidly engaged in the rescue operation.

With the accident, ammonia gas leaked for about 1 kilometer in the area, due to which the situation became more serious. Due to the strong smell of gas, people nearby were seen trying to protect themselves by tying cloth or towels over their mouths.

According to eyewitnesses, before the building collapsed, a loud bang-like sound was heard, after which the building suddenly collapsed. According to the information, the cause of the accident is said to be the bursting of ammonia gas pipe. After the pipe burst, gas started leaking, making the situation even more serious. People present there say that 20 people were present inside at the time of the accident, out of which many have died.

The police took action and took the manager of the cold storage into custody. It is being told that this cold storage belongs to former Samajwadi Party MLA Ansar Ahmed. More than 100 people work in this cold storage spread over about 60 acres. Investigation into the cause of the accident has been started and the administration is keeping an eye on the entire matter. At present, relief and rescue work is going on and efforts are being made to rescue the people trapped under the debris.
