PM Modi said in Lok Sabha – Situation is worrying, oil imported from 41 countries, 3.75 lakh Indians returned safely.

New Delhi. Narendra Modi gave a detailed statement in the Lok Sabha on Monday regarding the ongoing tension in West Asia. He said that the situation is worrying at this time, but the Government of India is handling the situation with full preparation so that no crisis arises in the country. The Prime Minister said that India has taken a big step to secure the energy supply. Earlier the country used to import oil from 27 countries, now it has been increased to 41 countries, so that the supply is not disrupted. PM Modi said that this crisis has been going on for more than three weeks and the whole world is appealing for its peaceful solution. He said that about one crore Indians live in West Asia, whose security is the top priority of the government. So far, 3 lakh 75 thousand Indians have returned to the country safely, which includes a thousand people who returned from Iran and more than 700 medical students.

Major points of PM Modi’s address:

On Oil-Gas and Energy:
The government is working on a reserve of 65 lakh metric tons of crude oil. By being in constant touch with suppliers from different countries, it is being ensured that supplies continue wherever possible. International cooperation is being sought to ensure that ships carrying oil, gas and fertilizers reach India safely.

Impact on food and farming:
The Prime Minister said that there are sufficient food stocks in the country and there are complete arrangements to deal with the emergency. Urea is being provided to farmers at cheaper rates and 6 new urea plants have been established. Also, “Made in India” nano urea and natural farming are being promoted, so that the crisis does not affect farming.

On power supply:
In view of the summer season, the government is cautious about the increasing demand for electricity. Adequate coal stock is available in all power plants and monitoring is being done at every level from production to supply.

Energy Sector Strategy:
The government has formed a special group, which is meeting daily to solve the challenges related to import and export, so that the impact of this crisis on the country’s economy is reduced.

India’s stance on war:
PM Modi said that India has expressed deep concern over this conflict and appealed to all parties to reduce tension. He described attacks on commercial ships as unacceptable and stressed a peaceful solution.

The Prime Minister also said that it is necessary to send a united message from the Parliament, so that India’s strong and balanced role can emerge on the global stage.
