ICC announces ‘Player of the Month’ awards, Indian bowlers honored

New Delhi: As part of the tradition of recognizing excellence in international cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the ‘Player of the Month’ awards for February 2026. This time players from different countries have received this honor in both men and women categories.

Achievements of Arundhati Reddy

Indian women’s team’s fast bowler Arundhati Reddy recently performed brilliantly on the Australia tour, due to which she received this honour. He took a total of 8 wickets in the three-match T20 series and maintained constant pressure on the opposition batsmen. During this period, his average was 10.87 and economy rate was 7.25, which is considered very impressive for the T20 format.

Great performance against Australia

In a match held in Sydney, Reddy bowled particularly impressively, taking 4 wickets for only 22 runs. His performance played an important role in India’s victory. Due to this consistency and excellence, he was chosen as ‘Player of the Month’. Sri Lanka’s Harshitha Samarawickrama and Pakistan’s Fatima Sana were also contenders for this award, but Reddy left them behind and won the honour. This is the first ICC ‘Player of the Month’ award in his career.

Expressing her happiness on this achievement, Arundhati Reddy said that it is a proud moment for her. He told that it is not easy to defeat a strong team like Australia on its home ground and contributing to this victory was a special experience for him. She also said that this victory has boosted the team’s confidence and they would like to maintain the same momentum in the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup.

Sahibzada Farhan’s performance in men’s category

Whereas, in the men’s category, Pakistan batsman Sahibzada Farhan was chosen as the ‘Player of the Month’ for February 2026. He batted brilliantly in the T20 World Cup 2026, scoring the most runs and playing many important innings for his team. Farhan left England’s Will Jacques and America’s Shadley Van Schalvik behind in the race for this award.

However, despite his individual performance, Pakistan team could not reach the semi-finals of the tournament. Nevertheless, Farhan’s consistently excellent batting made him worthy of this prestigious honour. These ICC awards play an important role in recognizing the individual performance of players at the global level.
