Mathura: A road accident in Mathura not only took away two lives, but the rumors spread after that also spoiled the atmosphere of the entire area. Initially it was a simple accident, but within a few hours, wrong news turned it into a tense situation, forcing the police to take strict action.
This incident took place on Friday night in Kosikala police station area. According to the police, due to dense fog, two trucks collided head-on. In this accident, cow protector Chandrashekhar alias Farsa Wale Baba died on the spot. The truck driver injured in this accident was admitted to the hospital, but he also died during treatment.
Rumors spoiled the atmosphere
After the accident, some people started spreading rumors linking it to cow slaughter. Within no time this news spread rapidly and tension started increasing in the area. Police say that it was a complete accident, which has no connection with any other activity. Some people got enraged due to the rumors and blocked the National Highway. Not only this, incidents of stone pelting on police also came to light. Seeing the situation worsening, the police had to take strict action and the situation was controlled.
Police action, 13 people arrested
In this entire matter, a case has been registered under serious sections in the police station area. So far 13 people have been arrested. Police are identifying other people who were involved in this disturbance through CCTV footage. More arrests are likely soon. During the investigation it also came to light that a young man from outside Mathura had reached the ashram with his companions and was trying to spread rumors there. The police have also detained him and his three associates and registered a case.
Strictness and appeal of administration
Mathura Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar said that a case has been registered in connection with the accident and investigation is ongoing. He also clarified that the truck driver also died due to this accident. Describing the rumors as completely wrong, he said that it was because of these false news that unrest spread in the area.
Security has been increased in the entire area to keep the situation under control. Police and administrative officials are continuously patrolling after implementing the sector scheme, so that no untoward incident happens. The police have appealed to the general public not to believe any kind of unconfirmed information and avoid sharing it further. It has also been warned that strict legal action will be taken against those spreading rumours.
