Railways’ surgical strike in case of issuing fake tickets

Bureau Prayagraj. Based on the information received, in which there was a possibility of fake tickets being issued from Prayagraj, the Railway Administration took the matter seriously and started quick and coordinated action with immediate effect.

*It is noteworthy that ATVM facilitators work on a commission basis on contract basis, receiving remuneration on the basis of ticket sales.

Keeping in view the seriousness of the matter, a detailed and thorough investigation was conducted by the officials of Prayagraj division on 21/22 March 2026. During this period, various points were tested at technical and field level, which confirmed suspicious activities.

After this, on March 23, 2026, a special campaign was jointly conducted by the Commerce Department of Prayagraj Division and the Vigilance team of North Central Railway Headquarters (NCR). Under this campaign, two ATVM facilitators—Gaurav Pandey and Vinay Shukla—were arrested on charges of selling fake tickets and legal action was taken and an FIR was lodged against them. Besides, FIR has also been registered against other persons involved in printing fake tickets.

Preliminary inquiry has revealed that the accused were getting fake tickets printed from external sources and selling them to the passengers, due to which there was a possibility of loss of revenue to the Railways. Apart from being completely illegal, this act also comes in the category of serious fraud with the passengers. In relation to the above incident, it is also clarified that till now the investigation has not revealed the involvement of any railway employee.

Railway administration is taking this matter very seriously and is conducting a detailed investigation through the vigilance team. During the investigation, other potentially involved persons and networks are also being identified. Strictest action will be ensured against the culprits as per rules.
