Extensive and strict security arrangements were made in the district for the arrival of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The administration deployed 1050 police personnel along with around 350 police officials at 175 identified locations, resulting in a tight security environment across the city.
The police force appeared fully prepared since Monday morning. Police vehicles kept patrolling the roads with sirens sounding, while senior officers including Magadh Range IG Kshatranil Singh, SP Aparajit Lohan were seen monitoring the security arrangements themselves.
Changes were also made in the city’s traffic system due to the Chief Minister’s program. From 9 am, movement of general vehicles was banned on the routes leading to Arwal Mod, Hospital Mod, Ambedkar Chowk, Kargil Chowk and Gandhi Maidan. Large vehicles were diverted from the bypass on Patna-Gaya route.
However, due to Chhath festival, common people had to face problems for some time due to this system. Passengers alighting from the railway station had to travel through the city on foot with their luggage.
In view of security, intensive investigation was done by the team of bomb disposal squad and dog squad from the helipad to the venue of the event. Surveillance was increased by barricading in Gandhi Maidan and surrounding areas.
SP Aparajit Lohan said that vigilance has been taken at every level to ensure that there is no lapse in security arrangements. All the officers remained deployed on duty with mutual coordination.
