Senior officials to hold inter-ministerial briefing at 4 PM on West Asia developments

The Government of India will hold an inter-ministerial press conference at 4 PM today to share updates on the evolving situation in West Asia and its impact on the country. Senior officials from the Ministries of Petroleum & Natural Gas, External Affairs, Information & Broadcasting, and Shipping will address key concerns, including energy security, maritime activity, and the safety of Indian nationals in the region.

The briefing is part of regular updates being held at the National Media Centre as tensions in West Asia continue, particularly amid the ongoing Iran-linked developments. Earlier briefings have focused on maintaining steady fuel supplies, ensuring safe movement of Indian-flagged ships, and assisting over 2.6 lakh Indians who have returned from the Gulf since late February.

Officials are expected to reiterate that crude oil and LPG supplies remain stable, with steps in place to curb hoarding. Updates on diplomatic outreach, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent talks with global leaders, are also likely.

The government says it remains focused on protecting India’s economic and strategic interests while ensuring clear public communication during the crisis.
