Left-arm pacer Saurabh Dubey will replace Akash Deep in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad for the upcoming IPL 2026, the BCCI announced on Tuesday. He will join KKR for Rs. 30 Lakh.

Akash was ruled out of the season due to a lumbar stress injury and will head to BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). “He will be under the care of the BCCI Medical Team at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru for further management of his injury,” the release stated.

Knight Riders picked up Akash for Rs. 1 crore in the mini-auction held in December 2025.

Meanwhile, David Payne will replace Jack Edwards in the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) squad.

All-rounder Edwards was ruled out of the tournament due to a foot injury. SRH had signed for Rs. 3 crore in the auction.

Payne has played one ODI for England, in addition to 233 T20s, scalping 304 wickets from the same. He will join SRH for Rs 1.5 crore.
