Lakshya Sen, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, and PV Sindhu will headline the Indian team for the upcoming 2026 Thomas and Uber Cup, the Badminton Association of India announced on Tuesday.
Apart from Sen and Rankireddy-Shetty, the Indian team for the 2026 Thomas Cup will also feature veterans Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy. Youngsters Ayush Shetty, Kiran George also make the team along with doubles starts Hariharan Amsakarunan, MR Arjun, and Dhruv Kapila.
Meanwhile, the women’s team for Uber Cup will feature Unnati Hooda, the fast rising Tanvi Sharma, Devika Sihag, and Isharani Baruah in the singles discipline alongside Sindhu. Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand, Kavipriya Selvam-Simran Singhi, and Tanisha Crasto, meanwhile, have been named for doubles.
The selections were based on BWF rankings as of March 10, with the top five singles players and top two doubles pairs making the cut.
Additional inclusions were made keeping team combinations in mind, with Kapila and Crasto earning spots due to their experience across doubles formats.
“We have a good mix of youth and experience in both teams. The senior players bring stability, and the youngsters are in great form. They’ve shown they can deliver at this level, which gives us confidence going into the tournament,” said Sanjay Mishra, General Secretary of BAI.
The 2026 Thomas and Uber Cup will be held 24 April to 3 May in Horsens, Denmark.
