Trump’s statement boosted the stock market, Sensex crossed 74000, Nifty strengthened by 400 points.

Like other Asian markets, the Indian stock market also improved after US President Donald Trump announced a temporary suspension of attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure for five days and both the benchmarks closed with strong gains on Tuesday, the second day of the trading week. In this sequence, BSE Sensex, which had seen a big fall a day earlier, crossed 74,000 with a gain of 1,372 points, while NSE Nifty crossed 22,900 with a gain of 400 points.

Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)’s benchmark index Sensex based on 30 shares closed at 74,068.45 points, rising 1,372.06 points or 1.89 percent. Among Nifty related companies, shares of 44 gained strength while six declined. BSE Midcap Select index, comprising of medium-sized companies, rose 2.77 per cent, while Smallcap, comprising of smaller companies, gained 2.29 per cent.
Increase in investors’ wealth by Rs 7.62 lakh crore
Amid all-round buying, the total market cap of shares listed on BSE increased to ₹ 4,23,16,813.89 crore in one session, which was ₹ 4,15,21,629.82 crore a day earlier i.e. on March 23, 2026. In this way, the market cap of companies listed in BSE increased by about ₹ 7,62,301.39 crore on Tuesday. In other words, there was an increase of about Rs 7.62 lakh crore in the wealth of investors.
Larsen & Toubro’s stocks rose the most by 5.19 percent
Among Sensex group companies, Larsen & Toubro’s stock rose the most by 5.19 percent. Apart from that, InterGlobe Aviation, Eternal, Asian Paints, Bajaj Finance and UltraTech Cement were major gainers. On the other hand, only Power Grid and State Bank of India shares declined.
FIIs sold shares worth Rs 10,414.23 crore
According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 10,414.23 crore on Monday. However, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 12,033.97 crore. Global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 1.96 percent at $101.9 a barrel.
