PM Modi says “received a call from Donald Trump,” and spoke on restoration of peace at the earliest
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a telephonic conversation with US President Donald Trump, where both leaders discussed the evolving situation in West Asia amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi said he had a “useful exchange of views” with President Trump on the situation in the region. He reiterated that India supports de-escalation and the restoration of peace at the earliest.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, stating that ensuring it remains open, secure, and accessible is essential for global stability and trade. “Ensuring that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, secure and accessible is essential for the whole world,” he said.
Both leaders agreed to remain in touch regarding ongoing efforts aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Separately, US Ambassador to India, Ambassador Sergio Gor, confirmed the development, stating that President Trump had spoken with Prime Minister Modi and discussed the ongoing situation in the Middle East, including the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.
The development comes at a time when tensions in West Asia remain elevated, with global attention focused on supply routes, energy security, and geopolitical stability.
