Shehbaz Sharif Offers To Host Iran US Talks: Amidst the increasing tension between Iran and America, Pakistan has considered itself a ‘peacemaker’ Have started trying to present as. Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has issued an official statement saying that Pakistan welcomes all efforts to end the war in the Middle East and is ready to provide full cooperation in it.

Posting on the social media platform X, Sharif said that if the US and Iran agree, Pakistan will consider it an honor to host meaningful and decisive talks.

Phone discussion with Iranian President

Taking this campaign of mediation forward, Shehbaz Sharif spoke on phone to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday. During this conversation, he expressed serious concern over the ongoing hostilities in the Gulf region and stressed that all neighboring countries should return to dialogue and diplomacy. Pakistan is among the few countries which have been advocating diplomatic talks between Iran and America for a long time. Meanwhile, it was also reported that Pakistan Army Chief CDS Asim Munir spoke to President Trump on Sunday.

Trump’s claim and Iran’s stance

This development comes at a time when US President Donald Trump has claimed that his envoy is a ‘respected Iranian leader’ Are in conversation with. Trump has also announced to postpone attacks on Iran’s energy plants for 5 days and extend the deadline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. However, Iranian officials have denied any secret talks, saying Trump had decided to back down after Iran’s warning.

Political turmoil in India

The news of Pakistan emerging as a mediator has heated up the political atmosphere in India. Taking aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that India has been neglected in this role whereas it should have taken up this responsibility. The opposition alleges that due to PM Modi’s visit to Israel just before the war, India is out of the position of mediator.
