New blast of BHIM App: Now make UPI payment up to Rs 5000 without PIN, know the complete method
New BHIM App Features 2026: NBSL, a subsidiary of National Payments Corporation of India, has taken a big and revolutionary step towards Digital India. Now a special update has been released in the BHIM app with the aim of making UPI payments more secure and convenient than ever for customers. Through the new features of BHIM app 2026, now you will get complete freedom from the hassle of entering PIN again and again for small transactions. This new technology will not only save time but will also make digital payments easier for those who often forget their PIN.
new biometric feature
NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL) on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 has introduced a very special biometric authentication feature for BHIM Payments App. The biggest feature of this new feature is that now users will not need UPI PIN for transactions up to Rs 5,000. Smartphone users will now be able to easily approve payments through their fingerprint or face recognition, which will make the work easier.
Security and convenience
With the advent of biometric authentication, the payment process is now expected to be much faster and much easier than before. NBSL MD and CEO Lalita Nataraj said that the main objective of this update is to make digital payments secure and accessible. Due to this feature, there will be a huge reduction in the problems of transaction failure due to entering wrong PIN or forgetting the PIN.
profit in daily transactions
This biometric feature can be easily used to send money to friends, scan QR codes of shopkeepers and make online payments. Since fingerprint and face data remains safe on the user’s own device, there will be no risk of the PIN being shared or stolen. Reducing the reliance on PIN will create a new level of security as payment approval will now be directly linked to the authorized user only.
transaction limit
However, keeping security in mind, the government has currently fixed the limit for this biometric payment only at Rs 5,000. If you want to transact a large amount of more than Rs 5,000, you will still be required to enter the UPI PIN for security. This limit has been kept so that there is an additional layer of security for large payments and the user’s money remains completely safe.
Devices and availability
This advanced biometric feature is currently available on all Android and iOS devices that support fingerprint or Face ID. Those who have old smartphones will still have to continue doing transactions in the old way i.e. using the UPI PIN. The benefits of this new technology can be availed immediately by updating this new version of BHIM App from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

With strengthened security, people will now be motivated to use digital wallets and UPI more and more without any fear. The government’s goal is that every citizen of the country can use financial services through technology with utmost ease and digital security.
