BCCI became strict before IPL 2026, implemented many strict rules; Heavy fine will be imposed for breaking rules

IPL 2026: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued new and strict guidelines for all the 10 teams before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The main objective of these rules is to maintain discipline in the tournament, protect the quality of the pitch and improve the broadcast quality.

Complete ban on practice on match day

Now in IPL 2026, no team will be allowed to practice on the match day. BCCI has taken this decision to keep the pitch fresh and manage the busy schedule in a better way. Teams will have to train within the stipulated time before the match.

On the day of the match, batting in the nets or fitness drills on the main square will be completely prohibited. In big stadiums like Wankhede, each team will get two nets and one side wicket of the main square for range hitting. If both the teams practice together, they will be given different wickets. Open nets have also been banned.

Strict restrictions on family and friends

Access to players’ family and friends has now been greatly limited. Only authorized staff will be able to go to the dressing room and the field. Families will be able to watch the practice only from the hospitality area. Family travel with players will also not be allowed during practice. This rule has been brought in to keep the team environment professional.

ban on private vehicles

Now every player will have to use the team bus to reach the stadium. Permission for private vehicles has been completely abolished. Family members will be able to come in a separate vehicle. This rule has been made keeping security and logistics in mind.

New rules in broadcast and presentation

Players will not be able to hit the ball directly on the LED board during the match. There is also a ban on sitting in front of the LED board. A separate place has been set aside for substitute players. It will be necessary to wear orange and purple caps till the initial overs. There is a ban on wearing floppy hats and sleeveless jerseys in post-match presentations.

fine for breaking rules

BCCI has clearly said that if the rules are not followed, first you will get a warning and then you will be fined. Only 12 support staff (including doctors) will be allowed on match day and it is mandatory for every staff to show their accreditation card.

Even if the jersey number is changed, BCCI will have to be informed 24 hours in advance. These new rules are a big step towards making IPL 2026 more disciplined and better. Now the teams will have to make complete preparations before the match.
