Donald Trump calls PM Narendra Modi, discusses West Asia situation and the Strait of Hormuz

New Delhi. Amidst the ongoing war with Iran, US President Donald Trump today called Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore said that President Donald Trump just spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Along with discussing the current situation in the Middle East, the two leaders also discussed the need to keep the Strait of Hormuz open. While giving information about his conversation with Trump, Modi wrote on social media X, I received a call from President Trump and we had an exchange of useful views on the situation in West Asia.

PM Modi said, India supports reducing tension and restoring peace as soon as possible. It is essential for the whole world to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and safe and for easy navigation of ships in it. President Trump and I have agreed to remain in touch regarding peace and stability efforts. Let us tell you that on February 28, America and Israel together attacked Iran. Since then, the war has continued and has spread to the Middle East as Iran is attacking US military bases in the Gulf countries.

This is the first time since the beginning of this war that there has been a conversation between President Trump and PM Modi. However, since the beginning of the war, PM Narendra Modi has had two rounds of phone talks with the heads of state of most of the countries in West Asia. India has been continuously insisting on resolving the dispute through dialogue with all parties. It is the result of India’s diplomacy that despite the ongoing war, Iran is allowing Indian flagged ships to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz.
