Sri Lankan President spoke to PM Modi on phone: Many issues including West Asia crisis and energy supply were discussed.
New Delhi. Amidst the uncertainty around the world due to the West Asia crisis, Sri Lankan President Anuar Kumar Dissanayaka on Tuesday spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over phone about the situation in West Asia and India-Sri Lanka relations.
After the talks, PM Modi said on social media platform
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders reiterated the importance of keeping sea lanes open and safe in the interest of the world. They reviewed the progress of various initiatives aimed at strengthening India-Sri Lanka energy cooperation and enhancing regional security.
Modi reiterated India’s strong commitment to work together to address common challenges in line with India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and ‘Ocean Vision’. The two leaders agreed to remain in touch. It is noteworthy that earlier US President Donald Trump had also talked to Shri Modi on the situation in West Asia.
