Over 25 Militants Arrested Along With Weapons On India Myanmar Border
Security forces in Manipur conducted a massive search and arrest operation against militancy on 22 and 23 March. During this, more than 25 active militants were arrested from the India-Myanmar border and various districts of the state. According to officials, this action has been taken with the aim of dismantling the terrorist network operating in the state.
According to the police, on March 23, 10 members of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-RA) were caught between Pillars 77 to 82 of the India-Myanmar border in Moreh police station area of Tengnoupal district. These also include five minors. All of them are said to be related to Bishnupur, Kakching, Imphal West and Imphal East districts. Police clarified that action is being taken against minors under the Juvenile Justice Act.
On 23.03.2026, security forces arrested 10 (ten) active cadres of PREPAK (RA) including 05 (five) juveniles from Indo-Myanmar Border between border pillar number 77 and 82 under Moreh-PS, Tengnoupal district:

In the same sequence, 22-year-old Kanglipak Communist Party (Apunba) active member Athokpam Bikramjit Singh alias Tolamuhai was arrested from Lamlai police station area of Imphal East. A mobile phone was recovered from him. In another operation, Arambam Ingocha Meiti alias Achouba, 26, associated with KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) was also caught from Lamlai area.
A day earlier, 14 militants belonging to the banned organization United National Liberation Front (UNLF-K) were arrested in Haokhong area of Thoubal district. These include many senior and mid-level operatives. Security forces recovered two INSAS rifles, 13 magazines, 100 rounds of bullets, Rs 1 lakh in cash, 12 mobile phones, 5 helmets, 5 bags and 4 four-wheelers from their possession. According to officials, this recovery points towards an active and organized network.
On 22.03.2026, Manipur Police arrested 14 (fourteen) cadres of UNLF (K) from the general area of Haokhong under Nongpok Sekmai-PS, Thoubal district:

Officials said that all these actions have been taken in a coordinated manner on the basis of intelligence information. Efforts have been intensified to curb extremist activities, especially by tightening security along the India-Myanmar border. It is noteworthy that after the ongoing caste violence for the last two years, security forces are continuously conducting search operations in Manipur. Officials say that such campaigns will continue in the future to maintain peace and law and order in the state.
