Mohammad Kaif’s advice on KKR’s captaincy decision – make Rinku Singh the future leader

IPL 2026: In IPL 2026, the command of Kolkata Knight Riders is in the hands of Ajinkya Rahane, but now the discussion regarding the captaincy of the team has intensified. Former Indian team batsman Mohammad Kaif has given a big advice to KKR and said that the team should prepare Rinku Singh as the future captain. Kaif believes that Rinku Singh is not only an excellent batsman, but he also has the mental strength to handle captaincy. He said that Rinku is such a player who has the ability to win matches under pressure and this is the biggest quality of a captain.

In fact, even last season, under the captaincy of Rahane, KKR could not reach the playoffs. In such a situation, the team management is now also considering the future strategy. In the current season, injuries to players have also put the team in trouble. Harshit Rana and Akash Deep have been ruled out of the tournament, while Mathisha Pathirana has not yet received fitness clearance, due to which the bowling looks weak. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kaif said that Rinku Singh is a “ready leader”. He told that Rinku has also captained the UP team and his runs often help the team win. In such a situation, preparing him can prove to be a long-term investment for KKR.

Kaif also pointed out that KKR making Rahane the captain was a late decision. According to him, Rahane was bought at the end of the auction, which made it clear that initially he was not in the plans of captaincy. However, considering his experience, the team entrusted him with this responsibility. Now it will be interesting to see what decision KKR takes next – will Rinku Singh be made the vice-captain or will the command of the team be completely handed over to him in the future.
