During the budget session in the Delhi Assembly, the Chief Minister Rekha Gupta-led government presented a budget of Rs 1,03,700 crore for the financial year 2026-27, which is about 3.7% more than the previous year. Infrastructure, education, health, transport and social schemes have been given priority in this budget.

To increase security in Delhi, 50,000 new CCTV cameras will be installed, for which a provision of Rs 225 crore has been made. Under the e-auto permit scheme for women, 1,000 permits will be given to women and 100 permits will be given to the transgender community.

Gig workers and social schemes

Rest houses will be built near Atal Canteen for gig workers and a welfare board will be formed for them. A provision of Rs 5,110 crore has been made under the promise of giving Rs 2,500 to women. Rs 260 crore has been earmarked for free gas cylinders on Holi and Diwali. Rs 450 crore has been allocated for free bus service for women.

big investments in education

Rs 19,148 crore has been kept for education. A provision of Rs 90 crore has been made to provide free bicycles to 1.30 lakh girl students of class 9. Apart from this, a scheme to provide laptops to meritorious students of class 10th has also been announced.

expansion in health sector

Rs 202 crore has been allocated to bring the transgender community under the ambit of Ayushman Bharat scheme. Rs 1,500 crore will be given for the construction of 750 new Ayushman Arogya temples. 7 ICU hospitals left incomplete by the previous government will be completed at a cost of Rs 150 crore.

Urban development and infrastructure

MCD will be given Rs 11,660 crore, which includes Rs 1,000 crore for road improvements. PWD has been allocated Rs 1,352 crore for dust-free roads and Rs 454 crore for roads along the Najafgarh drain. Rs 7,887 crore has been earmarked for the Urban Development and Housing Department and Rs 5,921 crore for PWD.

Special focus on environment

21 percent of the budget has been dedicated to environmental protection as a green budget. The government aims to strike a balance between development and environment, so as to ensure a better future for future generations.
