Lalu Yadav suffers another setback in the Land for Jobs scam, Delhi High Court dismisses his plea

New Delhi. RJD leader and former Chief Minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav has once again suffered a setback in the Land for Job scam case. Delhi High Court has rejected Lalu Yadav’s plea in which he had demanded cancellation of the FIR lodged by CBI. According to the news of Live Law, Justice Ravinder Dudeja has refused to quash the orders of the lower court taking cognizance of the CBI FIR and charge sheets. The judge said that the petition had no merit, so it was rejected.

Just a day ago, Delhi High Court has issued a notice to CBI on the petition of Lalu Yadav’s wife Rabri Devi who is also an accused in this case. Actually, Rabri Devi has filed a petition in the High Court challenging the order of the trial court. In this he has said that the lower court had refused to provide the documents which were not relied upon by the prosecution. A single-judge bench of Justice Manoj Jain sought a response from the CBI and fixed April 1 for the next hearing of the case.

In this case, in a petition filed earlier on behalf of Lalu Yadav, it was argued in the court that in violation of his fundamental right to an impartial investigation in the case, he is facing an investigation conducted for illegal purposes. Along with this, he had requested the High Court to stay the proceedings of the lower court. But in May last year, the judge, finding no solid reason to stay the lower court proceedings, refused to interfere. This matter pertains to the tenure of the UPA government when Lalu Yadav was the Union Railway Minister. In this, there is an allegation of taking the land of the youth at cheap prices instead of giving them jobs for the recruitment of Railway Group D. Apart from Lalu and Rabri, their two sons Tej Pratap and Tejashwi Yadav, two daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav are accused.
