Darmstadt 1-1 Schalke
Goals: 0-1
Sylla 44′, 1-1 Lidburg 45’+5

Schalke maintained their lead at the top of the table after a hard-fought draw with fellow promotion chasers Darmstadt in a high-tempo match at the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor. The Royal Blues dominated the first half and took a deserved lead in the 44th minute, Moussa Sylla – in for the suspended Edin Džeko – heading home after Timo Becker had hit the post. The hosts responded almost immediately and equalised through Isac Lidberg’s smart finish as the half-time whistle approached. In the second period, Darmstadt missed a number of chances, but the Schalke rearguard held firm for a share of the spoils.

Prussia Münster 1-3 Magdeburg
Goals: 0-1 Zukowski 45’+2, 0-2 Zukowski 72′, 1-2 He is 80′, 1-3 Endure 90’+5

Magdeburg hung on to win a big six-pointer and leapfrog Münster to send them to the bottom of the table. After the hosts had a goal disallowed in the first half, Mateusz Zukowski hit a brace to take his tally for the season to 13 goals. Etienne Amenyido gave Münster hope and a platform to push for a point under interim coach Kieran Schulze-Marmeling, only for a Richmond Tachie strike at the very end to seal it.

Bochum 2-3 Holstein Kiel
Goals: 0-1 Davidsen 8′, 1-1 Hofmann 14’, 1-2 Hers 45’+1, 2-2 Hofmann 65’, 2-3 Therkelsen 70′
Sent off: Bero 57′, Tohumcu 90’+9

Kiel led three times as they narrowly won away at Bochum, moving out of the relegation zone in the process. During a frantic start, the Storks netted the opener through Kasper Davidsen, before Philipp Hofmann equalised before the quarter-hour mark. On the brink of half-time, Phil Harres restored his side’s advantage, and when Bochum captain Matúš Bero was sent off after a second yellow card with a little over 30 minutes to play, the points seemed all but secure. Although Hofmann did complete his brace shortly after, Jonas Therkelsen bagged the winner midway through the half. Bochum pushed forward, yet couldn’t find another leveller, and Umut Tohumcu’s late dismissal capped off a disappointing afternoon

Fortuna Düsseldorf 2-5 Hertha Berlin
Goals: 1-0
Gechter 4’ (o.g.), 1-1 Reese 18’, 1-2 Reese 26’, 1-3 Kownacki 44′, 1-4 Winkler 45’+6, 2-4 Itten 54′, 2-5 Schuler 90’+4

Hertha kept their slim hopes of promotion alive with a convincing victory at mid-table Düsseldorf. They gave Fortuna a gift inside five minutes when Linus Gechter turned into his own net, but that only seemed to spark Hertha into life. Fabian Reese, as has so often been the case, led from the front, netting twice before the half-hour mark to put the visitors in front, and further strikes from ex-Düsseldorf striker Dawid Kownacki and Marten Winkler gave the Old Lady total control. Cedric Itten did reduce the arrears, but right at the death, Luca Schuler added extra gloss to the scoreline on his 27th birthday.

Karlsruhe 3-1 Greuther Fürth
Goals: 1-0 Futkeu 5′, 1-1 Pedrosa 47′, 2-1 Fukuda 90’+3, 3-1 Schleusener 90’+7

Karlsruhe came from behind to beat Fürth in added time at Wildparkstadion. Fürth raced into an early lead through Noel Futkeu, whose rebounded effort was his 12th league goal of the season. However, Greuther failed to increase their advantage and paid a heavy price in the second half as Rafael Pinto Pedrosa levelled, before Shio Fukuda and Fabian Schleusener took the game away from the visitors at the death. Karlsruhe stay in mid-table, with Fürth still in real danger towards the bottom.

Hannover 1-0 Eintracht Braunschweig
Goals: 1-0 Nawrocki 30′

Hannover boosted their promotion chances with a narrow win over Braunschweig in the Lower Saxony derby. Jovan Mijatović went close for Eintracht, before Maik Nawrocki converted from close range to give Hannover a lead they never seriously looked like relinquishing. The win means the Reds keep the pressure on the automatic promotion places, while Braunschweig stay precariously above the relegation zone.

Elversberg 3-1 Arminia Bielefeld
Goals: 1-0 Petkov 38′, 2-0 Petkov 69′3-0 Condé 76’, 3-1 Lannert 84’Sent off: Mehlem 51′

Elversberg kept the pressure on at the top in emphatic fashion with a comfortable victory over Bielefeld. Lukas Petkov struck either side of the break to put the hosts in control, and their task was made all the easier after Marvin Mehlem’s red card. Amara Condé netted a third for Elversberg before Christopher Lannert’s maiden Bundesliga 2 strike was nothing but a consolation as Bielefeld’s winless streak stretched to five games.

Paderborn 2-1 Dynamo Dresden
Goals: 0-1 Vermeij 32′, 1-1 Tigges 66’, 2-1 Tigges 85’

Paderborn extended their unbeaten run to seven games after a comeback victory against in-form Dresden, who took the lead through Vincent Vermeij’s headed goal. Despite their dominance, the relegation-threatened club were unable to find a second. Steffen Tigges’ introduction turned the game on its head, with the Paderborn forward striking twice, bringing an end to Dresden’s four-game unbeaten streak to keep Paderborn in promotion contention.

Nuremberg 3-0 Kaiserslautern
Goals: 1-0
Lochoshvili 3’, 2-0 Markhiev 58′ (pen), 3-0 Lochoshvili 83’

Nuremberg put more distance between themselves and the drop zone after overcoming Kaiserslautern. Miroslav Klose’s side couldn’t have wished for a better start after Luka Lochoshvili headed his side into an early lead. In the second period, Adam Markhiev converted his spot-kick after Mohamed Alì Zoma was brought down by Semih Şahin, before Lochoshvili struck again to inflict a third defeat on Lautern in four games.
