This is your ground Rahul…, KL Rahul welcomed in Delhi Capitals before IPL 2026

India batsman KL Rahul has joined Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
DC posted video of KL’s arrival at Arun Jaitley Stadium. As soon as he reached the pitch, KL did his famous ‘Kantara’ movie celebration, which he did during the match against champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in his home state Karnataka.
After playing an aggressive inning of 93* off 53 balls while chasing the target of 164 runs given by RCB, KL, who is usually cool, calm and composed in the dressing room, was seen strangely fired up and aggressive, beating his chest and pointing towards the ground and his jersey as if to say that this (M Chinnaswamy Stadium) is his territory. He swung his bat round the pitch and tapped the ground aggressively. Later, he revealed that the celebration was inspired by the 2022 Kannada movie, Kantara. Referring to KL’s words after that win, DC posted, “This is your ground, Rahul. Welcome back home.”

Last season, KL looked his most aggressive in years, scoring 539 runs in 13 matches at an average of 53.90 with a strike rate of around 150, including a century and three fifties. He was DC’s leading run-scorer and ninth-highest run-scorer overall. He was also DC’s leading six-hitter, scoring 21 maximums.

In 145 matches, KL has scored 5,222 runs in 136 innings in his IPL career, in which he has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), RCB, Punjab Kings and finally DC. These runs came at an average of 46.21 and strike rate of 136.02, which included five centuries and 40 fifties. He was the Orange Cap winner with PBKS in the 2020 season, scoring 670 runs in 14 innings with one century and five fifties.

Their target will be to get as close to the 6,000-run mark as possible, if not touch it. If he reaches this milestone, he will be the fifth batsman to reach this milestone after Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner. Currently, he is the seventh-highest run-scorer in the history of the competition.
DC will play its first match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow on April 1.
