‘He used to pay attention in exams, stayed with him when he was ill’, Shabana Azmi remembers Farooq Shaikh!
Shabana Azmi shared an old picture of Farooq Sheikh on Instagram and recalled her college days spent with him. He told that both of them studied together in St. Xavier’s College and their friendship started from there.
In her post, Shabana said, “Farooq Sheikh always took care of me during exams. He used to ensure that my pen did not run out of ink so that I could write comfortably. Even when I was ill, he stood by me. However, amidst all this, he also kept teasing me. He never praised me directly.”
She said, “We remained together even after our college days. We worked together around the world for almost 22 years. We performed together in the famous play ‘Tumhari Amrita’, which was directed by Firoz Abbas Khan. I am remembering you on your birthday.”
If we talk about Farooq Shaikh’s career, he has been one of those actors of Hindi cinema who created a distinct identity with his simplicity and brilliant acting. Farooq Shaikh started his career with theater and entered films in 1973 with ‘Garm Hawa’.
Farooq Shaikh died of a heart attack on 28 December 2013. At that time he was holidaying with his family in Dubai. His demise was a big blow to the film industry.
