Stock of petrol and diesel is full, no increase in prices, government gave information.

Amidst the uncertainties arising after the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the government has assured the countrymen that there is no need to panic. Clarifying on the concerns spread over the availability of fuel, officials said that there are sufficient reserves of petrol, diesel and other energy resources in the country and the supply remains completely normal.

What did the Joint Secretary of the Petroleum Ministry say?

Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Petroleum Ministry, informed that India has sufficient stock of crude oil, due to which there is no pressure on the supply of petrol and diesel. He said that there is no shortage of fuel anywhere in the country and people should avoid panic buying. He also clarified that at present there has been no increase in the prices of petrol and diesel.

He also informed that the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is also completely smooth. The government is working rapidly on expanding gas connections. The PNG network is being further strengthened under a gazette notification issued recently. As a result, about 2.5 lakh new PNG connections have been registered, while about 2.20 lakh consumers have switched from traditional LPG to PNG.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs has also given information about the ongoing activities at the international level. Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to US President Donald Trump and discussed the current situation in the Middle East. During the talks, the need to reduce tension in the region and keep the Strait of Hormuz, important for global trade, open. Apart from this, the Prime Minister also received a call from the President of Sri Lanka, in which the regional situation was discussed.

What did Aseem Mahajan say?

Additional Secretary for Gulf Affairs, Asim Mahajan, said that the situation of flights returning to India from the Middle East is gradually improving. Since February 28, about 4.26 lakh Indian citizens have returned home. He expressed hope that around 80 flights will operate today, which will ensure the safe return of more people.

Overall, the government has clarified that the energy supply in the country is completely under control and despite the international situation, there is no need for common citizens to panic.
