‘What are you, talking nonsense…’ Why was Yograj Singh angry at R Ashwin?

Just before the start of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026), a new controversy has arisen in the corridors of cricket. Yuvraj Singh’s father and former cricketer Yograj Singh is seen angry at Team India’s veteran spinner R Ashwin. During an interview, he even said about Ashwin that what are you and are you talking nonsense.

 

Actually, R Ashwin had given his frank opinion on the team combination of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and said that it is almost impossible for Arjun Tendulkar to get a place in the playing eleven this year. While reacting to this statement of Ashwin, Yograj Singh got very angry and raised questions on Ashwin’s ability and his tone of voice.

What is your status to pass judgment on someone’s capability?

Yograj Singh did not stop here, he presented a big challenge to the whole world regarding the future of Arjun Tendulkar. He said, ‘If no one can feed Arjun then send him to me. I challenge the world that if Arjun spends just 6 months with me, he will leave all the batsmen of the world behind. If I can’t make it the best, I will cut off my beard and throw it away.

Mumbai Indians did not retain Arjun Tendulkar before IPL 2026. As a result they were put up for bid in the auction. There Lucknow Super Giants bought him for his base price of Rs 30 lakh. Arjun Tendulkar made his IPL debut in 2023. So far he has scored 114 runs and taken 13 wickets in 5 IPL matches.
