Final farewell after 13 years of silence… Harish Rana is no more, gave new life to many people
Harish Rana Last Rites:The wait of 13 years for Harish Rana, resident of Ghaziabad, is finally over. 32-year-old Harish, who was battling between life and death for a long time, breathed his last at Delhi’s AIIMS hospital on Tuesday evening. He was admitted to AIIMS on March 11 after getting permission for euthanasia from the Supreme Court. The doctors there helped him undergo the procedure without pain. He died when the life support system was removed. On Wednesday morning, his mortal remains were brought to the crematorium in Green Park, Delhi, where he was cremated as per Hindu customs and Brahma Kumari method.
The accident of 2013 which changed my whole life
Harish Rana’s life suddenly changed in the year 2013, when he was 20 years old and was studying B.Tech in Chandigarh. He suffered a serious head injury after falling from the fourth floor of the hostel, after which he went into a deep coma and his condition became Permanent Vegetative State (PVS), then he never regained consciousness and remained in this condition for 13 years.
The family took a difficult decision
The family tried everything possible and spent lakhs of rupees for Harish’s treatment, but there was no improvement in his condition. Ultimately, the family was forced to approach the Supreme Court and sought permission for euthanasia. The court approved it on March 11. After this, on March 14, Harish was admitted to AIIMS, where the entire process was completed under the supervision of doctors and he breathed his last on Tuesday afternoon.

After the demise of Harish Rana, his family took a big and inspiring step. He said yes to organ donation, so that other people could get a new life. Harish’s heart can now beat in someone else’s body and his eyes can light up someone’s world. This decision was greatly appreciated by the people around and called it a great example of humanity.
Harish’s family is connected to Himachal
Harish Rana’s family is originally from Himachal Pradesh. His father Ashok Rana is from Platea village of Kangra district. He came to Delhi in 1989 and later worked as a chef in a big hotel in Mumbai. Everything changed after the accident in Chandigarh University in 2013. After son Harish went into coma, Ashok Rana returned to Delhi and started taking care of his son while taking responsibility of the family.
