In fact, a special stand for women has been inaugurated at the International Cricket-cum-Football Stadium in Dwarka, Delhi, which has been named after Indian cricket star Harmanpreet Kaur. This historic initiative is a strong step towards inclusivity, safety and greater participation of women in sports. A new era has begun.

On this occasion, ODI world champion captain Harmanpreet Kaur talked about the preparations for the Women’s T20 World Cup to be played in England this year. “We will try our best (to win the T20 World Cup later this year). The last World Cup has given us confidence, and now we are confident that we can win the World Cup anywhere in the world. There is more pressure in big tournaments at home,” he said. He further said, “We are working hard for the upcoming World Cup. The team for South Africa has been announced just yesterday. We are going to South Africa. This is the time of preparation and we hope that we will win in South Africa.”

On having a stand named in her honor at ‘The Omaxe State’ in Dwarka, Harmanpreet Kaur said, “It was a very emotional moment for me. When your name is associated with a stadium, it is a huge achievement for any player. For me, it is really very special. I would like to thank Omaxe for this honour, and I hope that our partnership continues like this, which will bring even more excitement in the country.”

Harmanpreet further added, “One more thing I would like to add is that the best thing about this stadium is that it is not just dedicated to cricket, but it is a multi-sport facility. This is very important. As a player, I want other sports to grow in our country the way cricket has grown. If football and other sports grow, it will be great for the country and other players. I would also like to give them credit for this.” They thought beyond cricket and focused on taking everyone along. It may be very difficult for people sitting in wheelchairs to watch the matches, but there will be a special place for them here. I think this is a very good initiative.
