Vijay Political Meeting: As the battle cry for Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 2026 rings, a new and aggressive entry has been made in the political circles of the state. Superstar Vijay has made a big move by challenging the dominance of the long established Dravidian parties.

His party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam has announced that it will contest all the 234 assembly seats in the state alone without being a part of any major alliance. Vijay’s move is being considered a turning point in the political scenario of Tamil Nadu, which is set to make the electoral contest even more interesting.

Vijay may contest elections from Perambur; huge craze among youth

The biggest discussion in political circles is about Vijay’s own seat. According to party insiders, Vijay may contest from Perambur constituency in Chennai, although official confirmation is still awaited. His potential candidature has generated tremendous enthusiasm, especially among first-time voters and the youth, who are considered to be his biggest supporters.

The party is scheduled to hold a high-profile public meeting in Mamallapuram on March 27, where Vijay himself will present his candidates to the public and announce his party’s election roadmap.

The sting of the brutal tragedy is still there

This time Vijay’s election campaign will take place amidst tight security and restrictions. In fact, 41 people lost their lives in the tragic stampede that took place during a Vijay program in Karur on 27 September 2025. After this incident, Tamil Nadu Police and Election Commission have implemented very strict guidelines on public meetings and crowd management.

Due to this, only 3,000 people have been allowed to attend public meetings in Chennai areas (Perambur, Kolathur, Villivakkam, Anna Nagar and Virugambakkam) on March 28. Due to security concerns, the Election Commission has also rejected the party’s appeal to hold campaign programs in 12 more constituencies.

‘Third Front’ amid Dravidian politics Or ‘vote cutter’?

For decades, the contest for power in Tamil Nadu has mainly revolved around the two major Dravidian parties. In such a situation, the entry of Vijay and his party has added a new dimension to the electoral contest. While the established alliances are busy consolidating their ground, Vijay’s ‘walk alone’ The campaign may attract voters who are looking for change.
