Hormuz is open for India… Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi said, these countries including Pakistan are also included in this list

Delhi. Iran has allowed ships of India and some other ‘friendly countries’ to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi gave this information on Thursday. Iranian news agency Tasnim quoted the foreign minister as saying that Tehran has allowed ships from friendly countries including India, Russia, China, Iraq and Pakistan to pass through the strait.

“We have allowed friendly nations, including China, Russia, India, Iraq and Pakistan, to pass through the Strait of Hormuz,” Araghchi said. He said the strait was closed to ‘enemies and their allies’. The Strait of Hormuz is an important sea route, through which about 20 percent of global oil and gas trade passes. Iran closed it down after the US and Israeli attacks.

Araghchi said, “From our perspective, the Strait of Hormuz is not completely closed. It is closed only to enemies. There is no reason to allow the ships of our enemies and their allies to pass.” Earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had called for the reopening of this waterway amid global disruptions in energy supplies and skyrocketing fuel prices.

It is noteworthy that Iran ridiculed and rejected US President Donald Trump’s 15-point peace plan. Iran said the US and Israel were ‘talking to themselves’ and described Mr Trump’s statements about peace talks with Iran as ‘fake’.
