The plane was in Saudi Arabia’s airspace when it was decided to divert it.

New Delhi. Air India’s A350 aircraft flying to London’s Heathrow returned to Delhi on Thursday afternoon after being in the air for about seven hours due to a technical problem. This flight left Delhi at 6 am and landed back at 12.30 pm. Air India spokesperson said that AI111 flight was safely diverted back to Delhi due to suspected technical problem.

He said the plane landed safely and is undergoing a detailed technical check in accordance with the airline’s high safety standards, which will take time to complete. The spokesperson expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the passengers and said that the airline is making every possible effort to complete the passengers’ journey to London as soon as possible. However, information about how many passengers were on board the plane was not available.

According to the Flightradar24.com website, AI111 remained in the air for about four hours before the decision was made to divert it while it was in Saudi Arabian airspace. At the same time, the same A350-900 aircraft (VT-JRF) also faced a technical problem on March 15, after which the flight coming from New York to Delhi was diverted towards Shannon, Ireland.
