Valmiki Ramayana first look out: Here’s all you need to know about the film

The wait is finally over for millions of fans as the makers of Valmiki Ramayana officially unveiled the first-look posters of the magnum opus today. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, this cinematic retelling is being positioned as the most ambitious project in Indian history, with a confirmed release date set for October 2, 2026.

The first look confirms Ranbir Kapoor in the titular role of Lord Ram, sporting a clean-shaven, serene look that has already gone viral. Sai Pallavi accompanies him as Goddess Sita, bringing a sense of classical grace to the posters.

While the leads are locked in, the rest of the powerhouse lineup remains a subject of intense industry buzz. Joining them in this “Cinematic Universe” is Kannada superstar Yashwho is widely rumoured to take on the role of the formidable Lankesh (Ravana). Similarly, veteran Sunny Deol is heavily linked to the role of Lord Hanuman, while Ravie Dubey is rumoured to portray Lakshman. If these casting reports hold true, the film will boast a truly pan-India ensemble spanning multiple film industries.

This isn’t just another mythological film; it is a global tech marvel. The project features a historic collaboration between two Oscar-winning music legendsHans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, who are joining forces for the first time to create the film’s sonic landscape.On the visual front, the 8-time Academy Award-winning VFX studio DNEG (known for Dune and Oppenheimer) is handling the CGI to recreate the ancient city of Ayodhya.

Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, Valmiki Ramayana is a planned two-part saga. While Part One arrives this October to coincide with the Gandhi Jayanti weekend, Part Two is already slated for a Diwali 2027 release.

By securing a massive four-day holiday window, the producers are clearly aiming to shatter every existing box office record. As the tagline “Our Truth. Our History” suggests, the film aims to be the definitive version of the epic for a global audience.
