Directed by Vivek Das Choudhary, the film is based on a simple but tumultuous situation: a wedding breaks up just a day after gifts are exchanged, but a guest—an extremely stingy man—refuses to return the expensive toaster he was gifted; Which begins a series of hilarious and dark events filled with murder and mayhem.
The film is the first film produced by Rajkummar Rao and his wife Patralekha under their production banner **Kampa Films**. It also includes many great actors including Abhishek Banerjee, Archana Puran Singh, Farah Khan, Upendra Limaye, Vinod Rawat, Jitendra Joshi and Seema Pahwa.
Expressing her excitement about the project, Patralekha said: “Starting this journey with Netflix, which has always encouraged unique and offbeat stories, makes it even more special. *Toaster* immediately caught our attention because it finds humor in the most unexpected places, and the moment we read the story, we knew this was a story we wanted to bring to the screen. Being our first film, this experience was even more special for us. It has become more personal.”
Rajkummar Rao has many exciting projects lined up. He will next be seen in *Nikam*, a biopic drama based on the life of renowned government lawyer Ujjwal Nikam. He is also playing the lead role in *Raftaar* with Keerthy Suresh; Which is said to be a powerful drama that will keep the audience glued to their seats, and which is scheduled to release in theaters on **July 24, 2026**.
