IPL 2026: BCCI released the schedule of the second phase of IPL, the dates of playoff and final are yet to be announced.

IPL 2026 : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule of the second phase of IPL 2026. However, the board has not yet announced the date of the playoff and final matches. BCCI has announced the schedule of 70 league matches which will run till May 24. The 19th season of the IPL will start from March 28. The board had earlier announced the schedule of 20 matches and now in the second phase, BCCI has released the schedule of the remaining 50 matches of the league stage.

Why did the program come in two parts?

The schedule of IPL 2026 has been released in two parts. The schedule of the first 20 matches was released and now the schedule of the remaining 50 matches of the league stage has been announced. The reason for this is the assembly elections to be held in five states. Assembly elections are to be held in Assam, Puducherry, Kerala, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu next month. The election results will be released on May 4. BCCI has announced the complete schedule of the league stage after the elections are declared in these states.

RCB will defend the title

RCB team will go to defend its title this time. RCB won the IPL title for the first time in 2025 by defeating Punjab Kings. It is a matter of relief for RCB that its home ground Chinnaswamy Stadium has got approval to host the match. The opening match of IPL 2026 will be played in Bangalore only.

Matches will be held in 13 cities

BCCI had earlier released the schedule of matches till April 12 and now has announced the schedule from April 13 to May 24. In the second phase, IPL matches will be played at 12 venues, while in IPL 2026, matches will be played at a total of 13 venues. In the second phase, competitions will be held in Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Dharamshala, Raipur and New Chandigarh. Guwahati is also hosting IPL matches in the first phase, but there will be no matches there in the second phase. The second phase will begin on April 13 with a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad. At the same time, the last match of the league stage will be played between KKR and Delhi Capitals on May 24 in Kolkata.

There will be three matches in Dharamshala

There will be eight double header matches in the second phase in which the afternoon matches will be played from 3:30 pm IST, while the evening matches will be played from 7:30 pm. There are to be four double headers in the first leg. That means this time a total of 12 double header matches will be played. Punjab Kings team will play its home matches in New Chandigarh and Dharamshala. During this period, three matches will be played in Dharamshala. On the other hand, Rajasthan team will play four matches in Jaipur, while defending champion Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will play three of its home matches in Bangalore and two in Raipur. BCCI said that the venue of the playoff will be announced later.
