Arjun Rampal and the whole cast of ‘Dhurandhar 2’ are basking in the glory of the film’s success. Arjun is winning rave reviews for his second innings and powerful acting in the film. The actor has also been winning awards for his ruthless performance. Recently, at the ‘HELLO! Hall of Fame Awards,’ Arjun ended his award acceptance speech with ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai.’

What Arjun Rampal had said:

“On my birthday, I saw the horrors of 26/11 play out. In the morning, when I drove back home, I had to stop at least three times because I felt like I was going to be sick. When Aditya Dhar narrated the 26/11 sequence to me, I knew I was going to have my revenge — and that’s what I did with Dhurandhar. All I want to say is, Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”

Soon, columnist Shobhaa De opined that Arjun saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ should be worrisome for Bollywood fans. She wrote an article for The Print titled ‘Why Arjun Rampal saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ should worry Bollywood audiences.’

What Shobhaa De wrote

The post sharing Arjun Rampal’s picture was captioned, “‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai!” is the high-minded cry on which actor Arjun Rampal ended his acceptance speech at a recent awards night in Mumbai.”

She further wrote, “Soon, our three reigning superheroes—the Khans—will find themselves being smoothly eased out as producers sign up actors better aligned to the political briefs dictated by Delhi.”

Arjun’s girlfriend reacts

Arjun Rampal’s girlfriend and now fiancée, Gabriella Demetriades was quick to react to the post. She called it “outrageous”. Not just Gabriella, many other social media users also expressed their disappointment with the article. However, there were also a few who agreed with the opinion expressed in the article.

“What do you mean ‘over exaggerated Hindu Nationalist theme’ ? Since when did being a Nationalist become a bad thing?- I think your writing is itself exaggerated,” wrote a user.

“Do u think it’s the right time to oppose someone’s personal choice and their thoughts here?? If it doesn’t fit your frame, it’s apparently wrong?” another user asked.

“Saying bharat mata ki jay has always put anti indians on an uncomfortable state, like how indian forces say it and enemies get scared.Saying salam valikum is inclusive, but jay shri ram and now even bharat mata ki jai is making bollywood uncomfortable!” one more user commented.
