Pakistan openly threatens America, cites Strait of Hormuz, tries to shut down Biden administration’s speech

News India Live, Digital Desk: Pakistan, which is struggling with economic crisis and internal strife, has now started showing its eyes to America on the international stage. Amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel, Pakistan has taken a dig at America by playing the ‘Strait of Hormuz’ card. This changed attitude of Pakistan has created a stir in the diplomatic circles, because it is the same country which repeatedly looks towards Washington to save its economy. Irritated America by pressing the ‘pulse’ of Hormuz. There is a strong discussion among the defense experts and government circles of Pakistan that if Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz, then the global oil supply of America and its allies will come to a standstill. Pakistani officials have taunted on social media and international forums, saying that America’s ‘superpower’ image may prove to be dwarf in front of this narrow sea route. Hormuz is a strategic route in the world through which about 20% of the world’s crude oil passes. Increasing proximity with Iran and distance from America? Experts believe that this stance of Pakistan is a sign of change in its ‘Iran policy’. After recently resolving the border dispute with Iran, Pakistan is now trying to present itself as a big player in the Muslim world by standing with Tehran. Islamabad, irritated by the various sanctions imposed by America on Pakistan and the ‘Do More’ policy, is now having fun by reminding Washington of its weak nerve i.e. ‘Energy Security’. Islamabad’s attitude has become a headache for the Biden administration. This behavior of Pakistan is no less than a shock for America. On one hand America is trying to restore peace in the Middle East, while its old ally Pakistan is adding fuel to the fire. According to reports in Pakistani media, “America teaches others the lessons of democracy and human rights, but when it comes to Hormuz, its hands and feet start swelling.” This statement is a direct mockery of American foreign policy. Can the move backfire? Diplomatic experts say that this ‘joke’ of Pakistan may prove costly for it. Pakistan is currently dependent on IMF loan and American help. In such a situation, challenging the superpower and praising Iran in a war-like situation can prove to be suicidal for Pakistan’s sinking economy. Whether this is a new well-thought-out strategy of Pakistan or just a statement made to please the domestic public, only time will tell.
