Trump calls Iranian negotiators ‘weird’, warns – ‘They better get serious’
US President Donald Trump on Thursday strongly criticized Iranian negotiators, calling them “weird” and warning that Tehran will have to seriously consider the US proposal, otherwise it will face irreparable consequences.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Iranian officials are privately “pleading” for a deal because their country is “military-devastated and has no chance of recovery.” He accused them of publicly undermining the talks, saying they were only “considering our proposal.” Trump added: “They need to get serious soon, before it’s too late; because once that happens, there will be no going back, and that would be no good!”
The comments come amid a military campaign by the US and Israel against Iran, which began in late February. Trump has publicly set a time frame of four to six weeks for this conflict.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, Trump has privately told aides that he wants to avoid a protracted war and believes the conflict is in its final stages. He has urged his advisers to adhere to this deadline, which appears to be linked to his planned summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in mid-May.
Additionally, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz claimed that the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) navy, Alireza Tangsiri, was killed in an airstrike in the southern Iranian port city of **Bandar Abbas**. According to reports, Tangsiri was a key figure in Iran’s plan to close the strategically important **Strait of Hormuz**. Iran has not confirmed this report, nor has any official statement been issued by the Israeli military.
These developments highlight the increasing pressure on Tehran as activities are underway on both the diplomatic and military fronts simultaneously. The White House continues to press for a quick resolution to the issue, even while continuing military operations.
