PM Modi’s big meeting on West Asia crisis, strategy will be decided with the states
The ongoing tension in West Asia has now reached its fourth week and in this context, the Central Government has intensified a comprehensive review of the country’s preparedness. According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to hold an important meeting with the Chief Ministers of all the states and union territories on Friday. The main objective of this meeting will be to assess the status of the country’s strategy, resources and coordination in the current situation. Also, in the spirit of “Team India”, special emphasis will be laid on establishing better coordination between the Center and the states.
CMs of proposed states will not participate
However, due to the code of conduct applicable in the states where assembly elections are proposed, their Chief Ministers will not be able to attend this meeting. Keeping in mind the administrative aspect of these states, a separate meeting will be organized soon with the Chief Secretaries. It is noteworthy that elections are to be held in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and Union Territory Puducherry. Of these, voting will be held in Kerala, Assam and Puducherry on April 9, while in Tamil Nadu, voting will be held on April 23. Voting will be held in West Bengal in two phases on 23rd and 29th April and the results of all the states will be declared on 4th May.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had chaired the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on Sunday. In this meeting, an in-depth analysis of the situation in West Asia and its possible effects on India was done. The Prime Minister gave clear instructions that keeping the countrymen safe from the impact of this conflict is the top priority of the government.
Discussion on measures to reduce the impact
During the meeting, measures to reduce the impact on various areas were also discussed in detail. Especially considering the impact on farmers, steps like ensuring availability of fertilizers, diversifying sources of imports and exploring new export markets were considered. Also, while reviewing the situation of power production and supply, officials were instructed to ensure that there is no power shortage in the country.
The Prime Minister also reiterated the government’s commitment on the social media platform ‘X’ and said that efforts are being made at every level to keep the citizens safe and keep the economy stable. During his address in Parliament, he also reiterated India’s policy of finding solutions through dialogue and diplomacy.
Apart from this, he expressed concern over the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, saying that it is an important route for global oil supply and the situation here remains challenging. Despite this, the Indian government is making efforts at the international level to ensure the safe movement of Indian ships and ensure smooth supply of oil and gas in the country.
