White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt said President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will also host Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan in Washington this year. Levitt made it clear that there were no conditions of any kind for rescheduling the meeting or talking about ending the war. He said that Xi Jinping, understanding the current situation, accepted Trump’s decision to postpone his earlier visit.
When asked if the war would be over by May, he said the estimate was four to six weeks, but the situation was constantly changing. Earlier, the two leaders had met in Busan, South Korea during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit. At the same time, during his recent meeting with Irish Prime Minister Michelle Martin in the Oval Office, Trump had talked about extending his China tour.
Trump had said that talks are continuing between America and China and he hopes that his meeting with Xi Jinping will be positive. He also said that both the leaders are eager to meet each other. America and Israel had jointly attacked Iran on February 28, after which Iran retaliated and targeted the Gulf countries also. In such a situation, Trump’s visit to China is being considered very important from the point of view of global diplomacy.
