Why did the Air India flight from Delhi to London have to return midway?

New Delhi. An Air India plane going from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to London’s Heathrow Airport had to turn back midway. According to flight radar data, Air India flight number AI 111 took a U-turn from Saudi Arabia after being in the air for about seven hours. Returned to Delhi on Thursday afternoon. Actually, this had to be done due to a technical fault in the plane. The plane landed safely at Delhi airport. After disembarking all the passengers, the aircraft is being thoroughly examined technically by experts.

According to the information, Air India’s Airbus A350 took off from Delhi for London at 6.13 am on Thursday and landed back in Delhi at around 1.20 pm. During this period, the aircraft covered a distance of approximately 3,300 km in about seven hours. It is being told that when the plane was in the airspace of Saudi Arabia, the pilot realized some technical flaw, after which he contacted ATC and then turned the plane back. An Air India spokesperson said that due to some technical error, the flight was brought back to Delhi as a precautionary measure.

Earlier, a similar incident had happened on Friday last week. An Air India flight going from Delhi to Vancouver, Canada had to return after seven hours, although the reason for this was not a technical problem in the plane but something else. Actually, Air India had mistakenly sent Boeing 777-200LR aircraft to Canada but this aircraft is not allowed there. Air India has permission for Canada only for its Boeing 777-300ER fleet, due to which the aircraft had to be recalled.
