To satisfy sweet cravings, options should be chosen very carefully. Ayurveda recommends giving preference to sweet fruits obtained from nature, jaggery, dates or pure home-made halwa. On the contrary, ice cream, canned foods and processed sugar available in the market should be avoided. These substances increase the amount of sugar in the blood very rapidly which can prove dangerous especially for diabetic patients.

Sweets are essential for the body but its excess can lead to many serious health problems. Eating sweets in excess of limited quantity can cause problems related to increasing weight, swelling in the body, diabetes, excessive laziness and phlegm. Therefore, health experts believe that giving up sweets is not the solution but taking it at the right time and from the right source is the key to a healthy life.
